The Official Orly In A Snap Review

If you read my post with my initial thoughts on Orly In A Snap Top Coat, you'll know that upon my first use of the product I was far from impressed. Well, I've been using it for almost a month now, and that means it's time to give you all the official review. Which I'm sad to say, is pretty much a repeat of the first post I made about it. =T

In A Snap claims it will dry all layers of polish in "just minutes" - there's even a claim of a very specific 5 minutes written on the packaging. Does it really work that quickly? NO.

It dries your nails "to the touch" fairly quickly - meaning they are still very tacky and vulnerable to smudging. And they stay that way for at least a good 30-40 minutes. Not exactly "quick dry" if you ask me. And this holds true whether you've got five coats of color on or just one coat of color, too.

And as I mentioned in my initial thoughts post - this stuff just reeks. I can't get past the smell - it is that awful.

I have not been able to find any tricks to this stuff to get it to work better. I've tried applying it immediately after my last coat of color, I've tried giving the nail color a few minutes to dry a bit before applying it, I've tried applying two coats of it... I even tried putting some hand lotion on after it's dried a couple minutes. (Sometimes the oils in lotion can help polish to dry faster and give it a little added smudge-proofing - I'm not sure on the science of why, it's just something I've noticed.) But NOTHING has improved the performance of In A Snap.

It had initially seemed do be ok for protecting your polish from chipping, but after some more use I've found it does not do much there, either. It's about the same as Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat where that's concerned. In other words, sometimes (often) your nails will be chipped the same day or the very next day after painting them.

I'll continue to use it simply because it was not cheap and I'm not going to waste my money by tossing it. But I will definitely NOT be buying this again, nor do I recommend it. Despite the lack of anti-chipping power, between Orly In A Snap and Seche Vite Dry Fast, I'd take the Seche any day as at least it actually does dry your nail polish much faster!

Out of 5 stars, I give Orly In A Snap.... 1 star. It is expensive, it stinks, does not work well at all. If you're tempted by this product.... pass it up and spend your money on something else!
